Weidman (12-0) came out strong, earning the opening few rounds with a more aggressive attack on his feet. Weidman pressured Machida (21-5) early and didn’t allow the challenger to get comfortable. As the fight went on, Machida became more aggressive and Weidman began to slow down. Machida had some serious flurries that put Weidman at risk, but he rallied and scored a key takedown in the final round to secure his championship. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Weidman was the slight favorite to win this fight, as he had odds of -190 to win, which means a wager of $190 will pay out an additional $100.
The co-main event of Saturday’s event was for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship with Ronda Rousey (10-0) perhaps putting on her most impressive display yet, defeating Alexis Davis (16-6) in just 16 seconds. Rousey landed a big right that led to a clinch, where she did one of her patented judo throws that put her in a dominant position. She then unleashed a series of punches to Davis that knocked her out. According to oddsmakers, Rousey was the clear favorite to win this bout, as she had odds of -1000 to prevail, which means a wager of $1000 on her to win will pay out an additional $100.
