Tigers talking to James Shields?
DETROIT, MI (The Spread) – After avoiding arbitration with their ace, the Tigers are reportedly interested in adding to their starting rotation.
FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi is reports the agent for James Shields has been in recent contact with the Tigers. Shields, 33, is reportedly seeking a contract around $100 million and has received interest from the Giants, Diamondbacks and Red Sox over the past two months.
On Friday the Tigers avoided arbitration with their No. 1 starter, David Price, on a one-year, $19.75 million contract. There have also been reports that they remain interested in re-signing Max Scherzer, who turned down a $144 million contract from Detroit last year.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Tigers are 12/1 to win the 2015 World Series. That puts them behind the Dodgers (15/2), Red Sox (10/1), Angels (10/1), Nationals (10/1) and Cubs (12/1).
