Marlins 2015 MLB Season Odds
MIAMI, FL (The Spread) – With the addition of a No. 2 starter and a couple of new infielders will the Marlins surprise in 2015 and win over 80 games?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Marlins’ over/under for wins has been set at 81.5 after the club won 77 games in 2014. They’re also 33/1 to win the 2015 World Series, 16/1 to win the NL pennant and 6/1 to win the NL East.
The Marlins acquired Mat Latos from the Reds this offseason and he’ll serve as the team’s ace until Jose Fernandez is ready to join the club in June after underdoing Tommy John surgery last May. Latos joins a staff that also has promising youngsters Jarred Cosart and Henderson Alvarez, who both won over 10 games in 2014.
The offense will once again rely on the right-handed power swing of Giancarlo Stanton, but the Marlins added fellow slugger Mike Morse in free agency and speedster Dee Gordon in a trade with the Dodgers. Martin Prado should also provide a little pop as well after hitting 12 home runs between stops in both New York and Arizona last season.
If Fernandez and Latos can bounce back from injury-ravaged 2014 seasons, the Marlins should be somewhat competitive in the NL East this season. Taking the over 81.5 wins appears to have some value.
