A look at what’s happening around spring training in Florida and Arizona on Sunday:
—
WHO’S ON FIRST?
Alex Rodriguez will get his first start at first base for the Yankees against Houston. The soon-to-be 40-year-old is returning from a year-long suspension and will get most of his at-bats as a designated hitter, but he should see limited time at third and perhaps first.
LOOSENING UP
Indians outfielder Michael Brantley’s tight back is feeling better. He might play against the Chicago White Sox after sitting several days.
BABY ON BOARD
T.J. House will start for the Indians in place of Carlos Carrasco against the White Sox in Goodyear. Carrasco headed home to Florida on Saturday to be with his wife, who is expecting their fourth child any day.
TRY AGAIN
Twins catcher Josmil Pinto failed the concussion protocol test that was administered on Friday and must retake the test Sunday before he can be cleared to return to games. Pinto sustained a head injury on March 21, when Baltimore’s Adam Jones hit him three times with the follow-through of his swing.
ALMOST READY
Mets closer Bobby Parnell is scheduled to pitch in a minor league game Sunday, his second outing since Tommy John surgery last April. He likely will not be ready to return until early May, but he is progressing well.
