MIAMI (AP) – Martin Prado hit a two-out, bases-loaded single in the 13th inning, and the Miami Marlins won for the first time in Dan Jennings’ six games as manager, beating Baltimore 1-0 on Saturday night.
The Marlins broke an eight-game losing streak and improved to 1-8 on their homestand.
Five Miami relievers combined to pitch the final seven innings while allowing only two baserunners. Carter Capps (1-0) struck out six in three innings.
Orioles reliever Brian Matusz left the game in the 12th after the umpire crew chief inspected the left-hander’s right forearm. The issue was raised by Jennings, and Orioles manager Buck Showalter didn’t argue.
Prado lined a 1-1 pitch from T.J. McFarland (0-1) into right-center field and was mobbed by his teammates, while a grinning Jennings traded hugs with his coaching staff.
