CHICAGO (AP) – The timeline may be off for the Chicago Cubs to have the Wrigley Field bleacher renovation done by Opening Day.
WBBM-TV reports (http://cbsloc.al/1FsC3mS ) that November’s cold weather is the culprit for the delay, because the concrete needed for the renovation’s final stages may not done in time for the April 5 home opener against St. Louis.
Cubs spokesman Julian Green says the team is working on plans to relocate fans with bleachers seats if necessary, as well as a refund policy if relocation isn’t satisfactory to fans.
The demolition of the bleachers at the historic ballpark is one part of a larger $575 million project. The Cubs are building a jumbo video board and six outfield signs.
