Grizz end win streak
Memphis saw a 7-game win streak come to an end on Monday night in a 126-116 loss at home to New Orleans. The Grizzlies are 20-23 on the season, 8-10 on the road, 22-20-1 against the spread and 22-21 with the over.
The Grizzlies are putting up 113.6 points per game on offense this year while shooting 47.1 percent as a team. Defensively, Memphis is giving up 116 points per game while opponents shoot 46.2 percent against them. Rookie Ja Morant is leading the team with 17.9 points and 7.0 assists per game. Jaren Jackson Jr. is adding 17.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.
Celtics end losing skid
Boston had a three-game losing streak come to an end on Monday in a 139-107 win at home over the Los Angeles Lakers. Boston is now 28-14 on the season, 17-5 at home, 24-16-2 against the spread and 22-20 with the under.
The Celtics are a solid defensive team, allowing just 105.7 points per game on defense while holding opponents to 44.6 percent shooting. Offensively, Boston is putting up 112.3 points per game while shooting 46 percent as a squad. Jaylen Brown is questionable to play tonight due to an ankle injury. He did play on Monday. Brown joins Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker as Boston players that average 20 points or more per game. Walker adds 5.0 assists per contest while Tatum and Brown have 6.8 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Memphis
The Grizzlies are 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight games as a road underdog and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine road games.
Boston
The Celtics are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games as a favorite and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a cover.
Prediction:
Memphis has been playing pretty well as of late, but lost to another surging team on Monday. The Celtics haven’t been playing that well, but had an odd breakout win over the Lakers. I don’t look at Monday’s result as the current state for either team. The Grizzlies seem to really have found their stride as of late and are playing much better than their record indicates. Boston, on the other hand, has been in a bit of a funk. They are just 3-5 in their last eight with losses at home to Phoenix, Detroit and San Antonio. I think the Celtics are giving up far too many points tonight to a team that is playing at a high level right now.
