Korver out for the playoffs
ATLANTA, GA (TheSpread) – The Atlanta Hawks were already reeling, being down 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals, but Atlanta is hurting even more now as Kyle Korver is out for the rest of the postseason.
During Game 2 on Friday night, Korver suffered a severe ankle sprain, and following an examination on Saturday, it was determined that the sprain will keep him from returning to action this season.
“Obviously, it’s very, very unfortunate for Kyle,” Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer told reporters. “He’s such a big part of what we do. But there will be other people who will get opportunities. We expect to compete and get after it tomorrow in Game 3. I don’t think anybody is going to feel sorry for us.”
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Hawks are now a +1500 underdog to win the Eastern Conference Finals over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland is now listed at -3500 to win the series.
Korver has had one of his best seasons this year with Atlanta, averaging 12.1 points per game while shooting an impressive 49.2 percent from 3-point land. Korver was hitting 2.9 3-pointers per game this season, a career-best for him. In the playoffs, Korver has been averaging 11.1 points per game while shooting 35.5 percent from 3-point land. The Hawks are already without Thabo Sefolosha for the playoffs while center Al Horford is battling a knee injury. Atlanta is down 2-0 to the Cavs in this series as it heads back to Cleveland on Sunday for Game 3.
