Grantham returning to Louisville
LOUISVILLE, KY (TheSpread) – Louisville will retain its defensive coordinator as Todd Grantham has decided to stay with the team has opposed to moving on to the NFL.
Grantham had interviewed with the Oakland Raiders about their defensive coordinator position and it was reported he was offered the job, according to ESPN. However, he released a statement to ESPN saying he will return to Louisville.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to have interviewed for the defensive coordinator position with the Oakland Raiders, but I’m committed to the University of Louisville,” Grantham said. “I said when I came to Louisville that I thought we could win a national championship, and we are building toward that goal with the success we had this season.”
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Louisville is getting 100/1 odds to win the 2016 College Football Playoffs. Ohio State is the favorite to repeat with 5/1 odds, while TCU has 8/1 odds and Alabama has 9/1 odds.

Louisville is coming off a 9-4 season last year, including a 37-14 loss to Georgia in the Belk Bowl. The Cardinals went 4-3 in the ACC with losses to Florida State, Clemson and Virginia. Louisville was in its first year with Bobby Petrino as head coach in his second run with the team. The Louisville defense allowed just 21.8 points per game, which ranks 24th nationally.
