NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A defense attorney for a former Vanderbilt football player accused of rape says his client took ”deplorable” photos of the assault but did not take part in it.
Defense attorney Fletcher Long said three other ex-players violated the 21-year-old woman who was passed out, and there is no evidence that his client, Brandon Vandenburg, took part.
Prosecutors say Vandenburg encouraged three of his teammates to have sex with the woman in June 2013 and should be convicted of rape.
Ex-player Cory Batey is also on trial and accused of rape. He testified Monday that he was so drunk he didn’t remember what happened until he was later shown images of the assault.
The other two players have pleaded not guilty.
The jury could begin deliberations as early as Tuesday afternoon.
