Super Bowl XLIX Updated Injuries
GLENDALE, AZ (The Spread) – With kickoff of Super Bowl XLIX just a few hours away, here’s the latest injury news surrounding key players for both teams.
Richard Sherman, CB, Seahawks
Sherman is officially listed as probable for today’s Super Bowl after reportedly suffering torn ligaments in his elbow during the NFC title game two weeks ago. He didn’t miss any practice time and while he could always re-injury his elbow during the game, he will be in uniform and starting at cornerback opposite Byron Maxwell for Dan Quinn’s defense.
Earl Thomas, S, Seahawks
Thomas was the other significant injury to monitor over the past two weeks for the Seahawks. He suffered a shoulder injury in the NFC title game versus the Packers but returned to play in the second half, showing immense toughness. While he sat out of early practices getting ready for today’s Super Bowl, he returned to full practice this week. His status was never in doubt for today’s game and while he may not be 100 percent, he will play.
Kam Chancellor, S, Seahawks
The third member of “The Legion of Boom” to get hurt leading up to the Super Bowl, Chancellor’s condition was the least worrisome. He suffered a bruise on his knee during the conclusion of a practice this week but he’s listed as probable and participated in Saturday’s walkthrough. He’s fine and he will play.
Bryan Stork, C, Patriots
The Patriots are relatively healthy heading into today’s game but the status regarding Stork has been worth monitoring over the past two weeks. He missed the AFC Championship Game versus the Colts due to a knee injury but he was upgraded to probable for Super Bowl XLIX and will play versus the Seahawks today.
All of these injuries are subject to change leading up to kickoff and we recommend you monitor these situations before placing any last-second wagers. If necessary, we will try to update this page leading up to the 6:30PM ET start time. The Patriots are currently listed as 1.5-point favorites according to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv.
