PITTSBURGH, PA (The Spread) – Two teams contending for the playoffs collide on Sunday at 1PM ET when the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Kansas City Chiefs on CBS.
Pittsburgh is coming off a 27-20 win at Atlanta last week to improve to 9-5 on the season. The Steelers are currently slotted in the fifth spot in the AFC, but are only ½ game behind Cincinnati in the AFC North and just one game ahead of Kansas City for a playoff spot. The Steelers have won six of their last eight coming into this game and they are 7-7 against the spread. Despite that, Pittsburgh is just 2-3 ATS in its last five.
Kansas City snapped a three-game losing streak last week with a 31-13 win over the Raiders at home. The Chiefs are on the outside of the playoff picture right now, but can jump back in with a win. Kansas City is 9-5 against the spread on the season, but just 1-3 ATS in its last four. It has covered in its last three games when the underdog.
The oddsmakers like the Steelers at home for this game, as oddsmakers from BetDSI have given Pittsburgh odds of -3 points against the Chiefs. The over/under total for the game has been set at 45.5 points (View Matchup). The Steelers have won three of their last four against Kansas City, but the Chiefs have covered in three straight meetings.
This game will be about Pittsburgh’s offense against Kansas City’s defense. Both rank among the best in the league, as the Steelers are producing 424.9 yards per game on offense while the KC defense is allowing 331.8 yards per game. The Chiefs have the top passing defense, allowing only 199.2 yards per game through the air. Pittsburgh has the second-best passing attack at 306.7 yards per game with Ben Roethlisberger throwing for 4,415 yards and 29 touchdowns on the year.
