TAMPA, FL (TheSpread) – The Tampa Bay Lightning look to punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final tonight when they host the New York Rangers in Game 6 at 8PM ET.
New York is 63-28-8 overall and 32-13-3 on the road while Tampa Bay is 61-31-8 overall and 37-12-1 at home. The Lightning took a 3-2 lead in the series thanks to a 2-0 win at New York in Game 5. The road team has now won three of the five games in this series while the Lightning have won seven of their last nine meetings with the Rangers. These two have hit the over in seven of their last 10 encounters.
According to oddsmakers at online sports book GT Bets, Tampa Bay is favored at home in this game, as the Lightning are getting odds of -130 to win, while the Rangers are getting a money line of +120 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 5 goals.
Game 5 of the series was somewhat of a defensive battle, as the two teams combined for just 48 total shots. In the end, it was two goals for the Lightning in the second period that proved to be the difference. Valtteri Filppula got the first goal midway through the second and then Steven Stamkos scored on a power play just five minutes later. That was all Ben Bishop needed, as he turned away all 26 New York shots in net for the Lightning.
