USC-California Odds Berkley, CA – Southern California had no trouble bouncing back from a tough loss. It might be tougher to move past the events of recent days.
Houston-UTEP Odds El Paso, TX – Houston showed during non-conference play that it can more than hold its own with teams from major conferences. UTEP apparently hasn’t made the same leap.
SMU-TCU Odds Fort Worth, TX – There is plenty of BCS talk surrounding TCU. One loss will likely end the Horned Frogs’ chances, but they’ve done an excellent job of avoiding letdowns against SMU.
Wash St.-Oregon Odds Eugene, OR – Consecutive wins over ranked teams, one of them an overpowering performance against a Pac-10 rival, vaulted Oregon back into the Top 25.
Ga. Tech-Miss St. Odds Starkville, MS – A disappointing loss two weeks ago dropped Georgia Tech from the Top 25. A dominating effort brought it back into the rankings.
Penn St.-Illinois Odds Champaign, IL – Penn State’s offense has been a big problem this season, evidenced by a sluggish start to Big Ten play. A meeting with struggling Illinois could help it get untracked.
Va. Tech-Duke Odds Durham, NC – Virginia Tech felt ignored heading into its ACC opener. That won’t be the case this week.
Ohio St.-Indiana Odds Bloomington, IN – After putting together a dominant performance and watching the Big Ten’s highest-ranked team get upset in the first week of conference play, Ohio State had reason to feel good.
Kentucky-Alabama Odds Lexington, KY – Alabama’s defense must be happy about how it’s playing. That doesn’t mean the unit is feeling real good.
