Casino Drive Scratched
Horse racing enthusiasts have noted three things that could potentially stand in the way of Big Brown earning the Triple Crown: History, a slight crack in one of his hooves, and a Japanese horse named Casino Drive. One of those threats was just eliminated as Casino Drive was scratched from the 2008 Belmont Stakes.
While working out in preparation for the Belmont Stakes, Casino Drive suffered a bruised hoof. Now it appears that Big Brown is almost a lock to win horseracing’s most prestigious honor – the Triple Crown.
When the 2008 Belmont Stakes odds were released weeks ago, oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog established Big Brown’s odds to win at 2/9. With his main rival scratched, Big Brown’s odds to win are now 2/5.
Win $10,000 on the 2008 Belmont Stakes
Even though it’s not entirely a foregone conclusion Big Brown will win the Belmont Stakes and claim the Triple Crown – after all, it’s been 30 years since the last Triple Crown winner – his odds look incredibly good. If he’s healthy, all Big Brown has to do is defy history.
