The big news surrounding the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Championship is that former Triple Crown contender Big Brown will not compete in this year’s race. Big Brown suffered a broken bone in his foot and his career is now over.
With his biggest competitor out of the way, oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have made Curlin a 2/1 favorite to win the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Championship. Curlin was the favorite coming into the race and obviously things didn’t change when it was reported that Big Brown would not run.
According to oddsmakers, the thoroughbreds expected to give Curlin the most competition are Henrythenavigator at 4/1 odds to win, and Duke of Marmalade at 6/1 odds. Casino Drive and Colonel John are right behind at 7/1 odds.
