Danica Patrick Odds
Danica Patrick has already made history at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – now she’s looking to be victorious. Patrick started and finished fourth at the 89th running of the Indy 500 in 2005, which was the highest starting and finishing position for a woman driver in the history of the prestigious event.
Oddsmakers from Online Sportsbook Bodog don’t think she’s necessarily a long shot to win the 92nd running of the Indy 500, as they’ve given her 9/1 odds to win Sunday’s race.
Bet on Danica Patrick in the 2008 Indianapolis 500
Being one of the most recognizable female athletes in all of sports has its obvious advantages, but with experience and popularity also comes lofty expectations. Some like to note that in three year’s of IRL racing, Patrick has never won a race. Given how much the IRL markets her, expectations and doubt are starting to mount. A win at the 92nd running of the Indy 500 would go a long way to quell some of the media’s thoughts that she’s racing’s equivalent of Anna Kournikova (in that she’s incredibly popular despite not winning many events).
This will be Patrick’s third Indy 500 appearance. Her best finish was her first Indy 500 outing in 2005 when she finished fourth after starting fourth. In both 2006 and 2007, Patrick finished and started eighth, respectively.
Patrick overcame a scary incident at the Indy 500 qualifying when she hit a crewman from another team in the pits. She did qualify on the second row, however, and oddsmakers have given her fair odds to win at 9/1. While she might not be the best bet to win Sunday’s race, she still has plenty of value in driver-to-driver wagers considered she’s finished in the top 10 in all three of her previous Indy 500 outings.
