Vitor Meira Odds
Brazilian Vitor Meira will try and push favorites Scott Dixon and Dan Wheldon at the 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500, which occurs this Sunday, May 25. Oddsmakers at Online Sports Book Bodog have given Meira 35/1 odds to win on Sunday.
Bet on Vitor Meira in the 2008 Indianapolis 500
Meira will start in the 8th position at this Sunday’s race and while that only puts him in the middle of Row 3, the positioning is quite an accomplishment considering Meira isn’t on a powerhouse team. Drivers from Chip Ganassi Racing, Team Penske and Andretti Green Racing claimed all the positions in the top 7. Thus, Meira (who drives for Panther Racing) is the lone outsider in among the top eight positions, which is something to hang his hat on.
Meira has competed in the past five Indy 500 races, with a career-best finish of 2nd in 2005. He also finished sixth in 2004 and has finished 10th in each of the past two Indy 500 events. He finished 12th in IndyCar Series standings for Delphi Panther Racing with a best finish of fourth (Homestead-Miami Speedway) in 2007.
Meira hasn’t finished lower than 12th in each of the past five Indy 500 races, so he’s an instant value in driver-to-driver prop bet wagers. He might not win, but at 35/1 odds, he isn’t necessarily a long shot either. He’s got experience of the track and a decent starting position so don’t fall asleep on this Brazilian racer.
