Bet Tonight’s Breeders Cup Classic
Here are our picks for win, place and show for tonight’s Breeders’ Cup Classic, which takes place tonight at 8:35PM ET and is Race 12 at Santa Anita.
Win: California Chrome (1/1)
After finishing fourth in the 2014 Belmont Stakes, California Chrome stumbled to sixth in the Pennsylvania Derby before rebounding to finish third in the Breeders’ Cup Classic that same year. Over his last six races, California Chrome is a perfect 6-0 and has the closing ability to make it seven-for-seven with a victory tonight.
Place: Frosted (5/1)
Outside of a dud fifth-place finish in the Dubai World Cup back in March, Frosted has been sharp. He won the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap on June 11 and the Grade 1 Whitney Handicap on August 6 before finishing third in the Grade 1 Woodward in early September. Since returning from Dubai, Frosted as run well and should do so again tonight.
Show: Effinex (15/1)
Effinex finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Classic last year to American Pharoah and is coming off a second-place finish in the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup back in October. After he finished fourth in the Whitney Handicap to winner Frosted, I can’t put him higher than third tonight in the Classic. But he was an underdog in last year’s Classic at 33/1 and ran second, so I look him to finish in the money again tonight.
