2016 Preakness Stakes Updated Odds
It’s the morning of the 2016 Preakness Stakes and with that, here’s a look at the most up-to-date odds for Saturday’s Triple Crown race.
Is Nyquist still the favorite to win the Preakness Stakes?
Yes. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Nyquist is a 4/7 favorite to beat the field and pick up his second Triple Crown win in less than a month. For his career, Nyquist is a perfect 8-0, with victories in the Kentucky Derby, Florida Derby, San Vicente Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, among others.
Which race horse has the next-best odds to win the Preakness Stakes?
That would Exaggerator, who has 3/1 odds to win this evening at Pimlico Race Course, and who finished second behind Nyquist in the Kentucky Derby. In 10 career starts, Exaggerator has four wins, three second-place finishes and one third-place showing. His wins came in a Maiden Special Weight, the Saratoga Special (G2), the Delta Downs Jackpot (G3), and the Santa Anita Derby (G1).
Who are the mid-range long shots to win the Preakness Stakes?
Stradivari, who did not run in the Kentucky Derby, is 19/2 to win on Saturday while Collected, a Bob Baffert horse, is 18/1 to win. Cherry Wine, who drew the rail position on Wednesday, is 25/1 to win the Preakness while Uncle Lino and Lani are both 33/1, respectively.
Which race horses have the longest odds to win on Saturday?
That would be Awesome Speed, Laoban, Abiding Star and Fellowship, who are all 50/1, respectively. Out of that group, Abiding Star might be the biggest sleeper thanks to his five wins in 11 starts. He has won his last five starts by a combined 18 3/4 lengths, including an 8 3/4 length victory against older horses in an April allowance. Abiding Star is also a two-time stakes winner, including the Park Derby in his last start on Kentucky Derby day.
