Record of the Year Odds
LOS ANGELES, CA (TheSpread) – The 2011 Grammy Awards take place on Feb. 13 and the biggest award up for grabs is Record of the Year.
The Record of the Year features some of the bigger names in music as well as some newcomers, but all of the nominated records were major hits throughout the year. The award is given to the performer and the production team of a single song.
Empire State of Mind featuring Jay-Z and Alicia Keys is the favorite according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com as it has an even betting line. Other nominees include Love The Way You Lie by Eminem & Rihanna (+125), Need You Now by Lady Antebellum (+300), Nothin On You by BoB & Bruno Mars (+400), and F*** You by Cee Lo (+500).
Jay-Z has won seven Grammys in his career, but never taken home this honor. Eminem has taken home 11 Grammys but also has been shut out of the Record of the Year category. Lady Antebellum has one Grammy to its credit for a country music award last year. B.o.B. has never won a Grammy and Cee Lo hasn’t won as a singles artist but has won two Grammys as part of Gnarls Barkley.
Empire State of Mind held the top spot on the Billboard charts for five weeks in late 2009 while Love the Way You Lie held on to the spot for seven weeks over the summer. Nothin on You held the spot for two weeks while F*** You and Need You Now never took over No. 1 on the charts.
The 2011 Grammy Awards will take place on Feb. 13 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will air live on CBS starting at 8PM ET.
