American Pharoah favored to win Breeders
Triple Crown winner American Pharoah heads into Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Classic as a clear favorite over the rest of the field.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI currently list American Pharoah as a -125 favorite to win today’s Breeders’ Cup Classic, which has a post time of 5:35PM ET. Beholder did have the second best odds to win, but the 5-year-old mare was scratched earlier this week due to bleeding in her throat after a morning gallop.
With Beholder out, Tonalist has the next best odds to beat American Pharoah at +550. Honor Code, meanwhile, is 6/1 while Gleneagles is 9/1 and both Keen Ice and Frosted are 10/1, respectively. The two heavy long shots are Effinex and Hard Aces, who are both 50/1, respectively.
American Pharoah, who won the Triple Crown this year by sweeping the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes, is coming off a second-place finish in the Travers Stakes on August 29. He also won the Haskell Invitational on August 2 and will be looking to place in the money for the 10th consecutive time dating back to September 3 of 2014.
