The Chicago Bears hope to keep their playoff hopes alive when they travel to St. Louis to take on the struggling Rams.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Bears a –7.5 point spread favorite. The over/under for this game has been set at 43 total points.
There’s not a lot to like about the Bears after the Green Bay Packers drubbed them last week at Lambeau Field. But at least the Bears still have plenty to play for as they try to keep pace in the NFC North. The Rams, meanwhile, have looked absolutely brutal the past couple weeks, and have been out of it by halftime the last two games against the Jets and Cardinals, respectively.
Chicago is 5-2 against the spread in its last seven games when playing St. Louis, while the Rams are just 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 games. The total has also gone under in five of Chicago’s last seven games when playing on the road against St. Louis.
The Bears dominate in all phases of the game, including points for (24.0 to 14.4) and points against (23.1 to 31.7). While the Lions are winless and the Bengals only have one victory, the Rams might be the worst team in the NFL. The Bears can’t lose this game, so you can almost bet that they consider this a must win to save their season.
Another thing to remember is that the Rams will be without their best offensive playmaker, running back Steven Jackson. Antonio Pittman will start, and while he’s a bigger back with decent speed, he certainly doesn’t possess Jackson’s skill set. And quarterback Marc Bulger has already proven many times this season that he can’t win games on his own.
