Twenty-Five Games Unbeaten
Nashville SC head into matchday 15 of the MLS with an outstanding 24-game unbeaten streak in-tact as they welcome the San Jose Earthquakes to the Nissan Stadium this weekend.
The Boys in Gold are riding a three-game domestic win streak, and they’re sixth in the table; this table position is even more impressive when you factor in their first eight domestic games away from home – as GEODIS Park wasn’t opened.
Nashville coach Gary Smith has enjoyed his squad’s form of late, as his team remains unbeaten in their last four meetings and are primed for another postseason run should their standings position remain. Last time out, Nashville took a 3-0 lead within 20 minutes of play, so their visitors this weekend won’t want to take their eye off the ball for a second.
The Earthquake Isn’t Erupting
The Earthquakes haven’t enjoyed the most thrilling season regarding table position. Still, they’re notably the highest-scoring team in the Western Conference, positioned outside the top four. With that said, the arrival of Alex Covelo in the team’s manager position has clearly made a positive impact as the Quakes have now taken points in 5 of their last 7 domestic outings.
Goal scoring hasn’t been an issue for San Jose’s and their strike force; preventing the goals is what’s plagued their league positioning as well as their abysmal away record. As one of the only five teams in MLS to have not won an away game, the Quakes desperately seek that spark on the road, but it’ll be tough to snap that streak in Tennessee.
