Offseason Additions:
The Hawks failed to sign Josh Childress to a long-term deal and the former NBA star left the country to play for the Greek team. Maurice Evans will try to replace Childress.
2008-2009 Season Outlook:
There’s a lot to like about Atlanta’s long-term future. They have Josh Smith and Al Horford locked up for the foreseeable future and Joe Johnson will be around for at least the next two seasons barring a trade.
But this team needs to add a bigger piece if it wants to compete this season. Losing Childress was devastating and Evans isn’t a viable replacement. The Hawks’ top three are solid, but they might be a year away from competing if they can’t add a midseason piece. (A big midseason piece.)
