Free Pick: MINN-JAC
Two teams trying to keep their postseason alive clash at Municipal Stadium this Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Minnesota Vikings.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Jaguars a –2.5 point spread favorite. The over/under for this game has been set at 40.5 total points.
The biggest question surrounding this game is whether or not the Vikings will have their starting defensive line. Jared Allen missed a recent practice due to a shoulder injury, while defensive tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams could possibly face suspensions for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. Both players appealed suspensions, but word hasn’t surfaced regarding whether or not they’ll be in uniform this Sunday.
If those players don’t dress, the Jaguars should walk away with a much-needed victory. The key will be whether or not the Jacksonville defense can contain Adrian Peterson. The Vikings are averaging 138.8 yards per game on the ground this year, while the Jaguars are allowing 113.2 YPC.
Neither team is a very sexy pick, so expect the game to be tight throughout. The best bet is the over. The total has gone over the total in four of Minnesota’s last five games on the road, while the total has gone over in six of Jacksonville’s last nine games at home.
