Bills Season Odds
Is this the year for Trent Edwards, Marshawn Lynch and the rest of the young Bills? Oddsmakers have released the 2009 Super Bowl odds to win and Buffalo is listed at 50/1.
The Bills didn’t make a huge splash in free agency this offseason, but did add linebacker Kawika Mitchell (Giants), cornerback William James (Eagles) and defensive tackle Spencer Johnson (Vikings). They also added defensive tackle Marcus Stroud via trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Buffalo also had a productive draft, adding one of the top cornerback prospects in Leodis McKelvin of Troy State and wide receiver James Hardy of Indiana.
Some football pundits like the Bills chances this year with running back Marshawn Lynch and quarterback Trent Edwards entering their second years in the NFL. With the addition of Hardy to the receiving corps and a decent o-line, the Bills’ offense looks improved. The real question is whether or not all of these young players can come together like they showed flashes of in 2007. Plus, can McKelvin boost the defensive backfield and will the addition of Stroud provide the Bills with much-needed pressure on the d-line?
Bet on the Buffalo Bills To Win Super Bowl XLIII
Buffalo is considered a long shot at all of the major bookmakers. Current prices on the Bills’ chances to win the 2009 Super Bowl range from 50/1 at SBG Global and Sportsbook.com, to 65-1 at Bodog.
Oddsmakers have also set the Bills’ over/under total for wins in 2008 at 8, but clearly think Buffalo will lose more than 8 games considering the under pays out at –120 compared to -110 for the over.
Even though the Bills will have their hands full with the New England Patriots in the AFC North, clearly oddsmakers don’t consider Buffalo huge long shots to win the 2009 Super Bowl at 50-1. The Bills have a solid young core on offense and with the added pieces on defense, they could surprise in 2008.
