BroburySports.com is bringing you all the odds for this event from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It starts with Pacquiao being a heavy favorite at -800 odds, while Clottey is a dangerous dog at +500.
We also have an Over/Under round prop of 9.5, with the ‘Over’ 9.5 being the more likely scenario (-175). Finally, there is a ‘final result’ prop that offers great long shot odds like Clottey +900 to win by a decision.
Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 knockouts) is a Filipino superstar who has won seven titles in seven different divisions. He hasn’t lost a fight since 2005 to Erik Morales. His last three fights were high-profile wins over Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto.
The Cotto fight came last November in Las Vegas, and Pacquiao’s speed proved too much for Cotto despite his big show of courage. Cotto got knocked down twice and the fight was finally stopped in the 12th round.
Clottey (35-3, 21 knockouts) is a year-older than Pacquiao at 32. He’s from Ghana and has also fought Cotto recently, last June in Madison Square Garden. Clottey ended up losing a split decision, but many felt it could have gone either way.
The advantage for Clottey in this fight is size. He’s a natural welterweight and he’ll be able to do some damage to Pacquiao if he can keep him stationary. That’s where Pacquiao’s speed comes in, the biggest reason for the heavy odds.
If Pacquiao wins this fight, we’re expected to see the long-awaited bout between him and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Prior negotiations got bogged down when Mayweather insisted on Olympic-style random blood testing, which Pacquiao refused.
Brobury already has odds for this proposed fight with Mayweather a slim -125 favorite.
