Bettors Love The Gators
The Florida Gators are looking to avenge their 30-38 2002 Outback Bowl loss to the Michigan Wolverines in the only other meeting between these two schools. This is Michigan’s 33rd straight bowl appearance (nation’s longest), while Florida is 3rd in the nation with their 17th straight bowl initiation.
Florida coach Urban Meyer is looking to follow up the Gator’s demolishing of Big 10 champ Ohio State in last season’s BCS Title game and extend their bowl streak to 5 straight winners.
Meyer and his offensive talent must be licking their chops considering in Michigan’s last three bowl games they have allowed 38, 32 and 32 points from the opposing teams en route to three straight losses.
One of the lone bright spots for Michigan this season was the performances of senior running back Mike Hart. The Wolverines will need a healthy Chad Henne to amount some sort of air attack as the Gators allowed less than 100 yards per game on the ground this season and will be lucky to contain Hart in this matchup.
Historically, Michigan has struggled against teams with speed. This could be a problem due to the “dual threat” in Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. Tebow was an offensive juggernaught this season, completing 68.5% of his passed and gaining a Florida school record of 3,970 yards of total offense.
The professional handicappers at SpreadExperts.com agree Michigan will not be able to stop the Florida offense and will need to rely on Henne and Hart to match Florida on the scoreboard in a similar fashion when the Wolverines defeated Alabama in a shootout at the 2000 Orange Bowl.
The public is all over the Florida Gators minus the 11 points posted by online sportsbook Bodog. Currently our College Football Public Beting Information shows that over 70% of the betting public putting their money on the Florida Gators to embarrass Michigan at Lloyd Carr’s retirement party.
"Michigan was a Top 10 team to start the season for a reason and in our opinion 11 points is just too much to give to a team who will finally have all their offensive skill players healthy." Said Michael Cash , General Manager of TheSpread.com. "We look for Michigan to take advantage of the Gator’s let down of not making a BCS game and cover the points and possibly pull an upset of the double digit favored Florida Gators".
