Preseason Top 25
The USA Today Coaches Top 25 college football poll has been released, with the Georgia Bulldogs taking the preseason No. 1 ranking.
Bet the 2009 BCS National Championship
Many college football pundits love the talented Georgia Bulldogs this year, even though they face a tough SEC schedule. With the way Georgia finished out the 2007 college football season, it’s hard not to like what they bring to the table in 2008. With future NFL draft prospect Matthew Stafford under center, as well as a Heisman Trophy candidate in sophomore running back Knowshon Moreno, expect big things out of UGA this season.
The NCAA coaches feel that Pete Carroll’s USC Trojans are the second best team in college football. USC has won seven straight Pac 10 titles, boast some of the best recruiting in the nation and are stocked with NFL talent. The Trojans must not overlook teams like they did last year, however. The loss to Stanford cost them a chance to play for a BCS Championship.
Rounding out the rest of the top five are Ohio State (No. 3), Oklahoma (No. 4) and Florida (No. 5).
While looking at the odds for this season, oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have made USC a 3/1 favorite to win the 2009 National Championship. Rather ironically, oddsmakers think Ohio State (6/1) and Oklahoma (6/1) have better odds to claim a title than Georgia, even though the Bulldogs have been chosen as preseason favorites according to college coaches.
