Denis Of Cork Odds
One horse expected to have at least a decent showing at the 2008 Belmont Stakes is Denis of Cork. Oddsmakers from Online Sports Book Bodog have listed Denis of Cork’s odds at 12/1 to win the Belmont Stakes, which takes place Saturday, June 7.
Bet on Denis of Cork in the 2008 Belmont Stakes
Denis of Cork found himself largely at the back of the pack during the 2008 Kentucky Derby. But him made an impressive drive late and wound up finishing third as Big Brown crossed the finish line. Denis of Corks’s closing charge on Big Brown at 1 ¼ miles at the Kentucky Derby has caught the attention of many with the 1 ½-mile distant race of the Belmont Stakes looming.
Denis of Cork won the Southwest Stakes before finishing third at the Kentucky Derby. Trainer David Carroll had this to say about his horse following a jogging at Churchill Downs at the Kentucky Derby last month: "He’s (Denis of Cork) a big, tall, narrow horse that doesn’t take a lot of training, so I can get away with missing some training."
While Big Brown is considered an easy favorite, bettors can’t fall asleep on contenders Casino Drive and Denis of Cork. At 12/1 odds, clearly oddsmakers believe Denis of Cork at least has a shot to upstage Big Brown. And given his finish at the Kentucky Derby, it’s easy to see why.
