Offseason Additions:
The Nuggets waited until after the season tipped off before making their biggest offseason move. The team traded Allen Iverson to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for veterans Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess. The tam also dumped Marcus Camby on the Clippers for the right to swap second round picks in 2010.
2008-2009 Season Outlook:
The key question is how much Billups will impact the team. He’s an excellent clutch shooter and can really unit the team from the point, but can he coexist with Carmelo Anthony? And will this team take a step back after losing Camby?
They lost a scoring threat in Iverson, but Billups is no slouch and can drain shots with the best of them when he’s on. If anything, the move makes Denver a more balanced team and McDyess gives the team a quality big man to replace Camby. Losing A.I. hurts, but it might not necessarily hurt their chances to succeed this year. This is an intriguing team.
