Public backing Packers on MNF
GREEN BAY, WI (The Spread) – The large spread in tonight’s Monday night matchup between the Packers and Falcons isn’t scaring the public off the home team.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Packers are currently a 13-point favorite over the Falcons for tonight’s game and the spread may only be rising. Some Vegas books have already posted the line at 13.5 and we could see the number reach as high as 14 by kickoff. The current total is sitting at 55.5 or 56, depending on the book.
Despite the nearly double-digit line, nearly 80% of public bettors are currently backing the Packers, who are coming off an impressive victory over Tom Brady and the Patriots last week. Green Bay is 9-3 on the year and a profitable 7-4-1 at the betting window in 2014, while the over is 9-3 in the Packers’ 12 games overall.
This game holds a lot of significance for the Falcons, who remain in first place in a brutal NFC South. Following New Orleans’ shocking loss to Carolina yesterday, Atlanta could actually build a two-game lead over the Saints in the division with a win over Green Bay tonight. But the Falcons are just 5-7 straight up this year and 5-7 against the spread, which has public bettors running the window in support of the Packers.
Kickoff tonight is set for 8:30PM ET on ESPN.
