NFL Free Pick: SF/BUF
The Buffalo Bills look to remain in the thick of the AFC playoff race when they host the struggling San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Bills –6.5 point spread favorite. The over/under for this game has been set at 42.5 total points.
Key Trend: The Bills are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games when playing the 49ers, while San Francisco is just 3-9 against the spread in its last 12 games on the road. The total has also gone over in seven of Buffalo’s last nine games at home and six of San Fran’s last seven games.
Key Stat: Buffalo is allowing just 211.5 yards per game through the air, while San Fran is averaging just 212.5 passing yards per game despite employing Mike Martz’s pass-happy offense.
Game Outlook: The Bills shocked most of the NFL by hanging almost 60 points on the Chiefs last week in Kansas City. Buffalo has had trouble hanging onto the ball lately – especially quarterback Trent Edwards – but they appear to have righted the ship last week in KC. The 49ers, meanwhile, crashed back to earth last week in Dallas after trouncing the Rams the week before. While Shaun Hill has given the Niners a mobile quarterback, San Fran still can’t get much going via their passing game. The 49ers have basically nothing to play for, while the Bills are still fighting for a Wild Card berth in the AFC.
