Australian Grand Prix Odds
MELBOURNE, Australia (TheSpread) – The 2011 Formula 1 Season kicks off this Sunday with the running of the Australian Grand Prix. Check out the odds for this season opener.
Sebastian Vettel comes into the race as the favorite according to online sports book Sportsbook.com. Vettel has 11/10 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Fernando Alonso (13/10), Mark Webber (7/2), and Lewis Hamilton (15/4).
Vettel is the defending series champion, as he won five races last year. Vettel has not scored points in the Australian Grand Prix over the last three years.
Alonso came in second in last year’s standings, but he did post five victories as well. Alonso has placed in the top five of this race the last seven years, including a victory in 2006.
Webber finished third in the season standings in 2010. He had four victories to his credit. Webber hasn’t finished in the top 5 of this event since 2005.
Lewis Hamilton was fourth in the season standings a year ago and had three wins to his credit. Hamilton won this race in 2008 but finished outside the top 5 the last two years.
