Spanish Grand Prix Picks
The 2017 Spanish Grand Prix will wave the green flag early on Sunday. Here are our predictions for the latest Formula 1 race.
The Spanish Grand Prix takes place Sunday at 8AM ET from Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The race is a 191-mile contest that will run 58 laps around the track. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel are co-favorites to win, as each is listed at +137 to win. Valtteri Bottas is listed with +350 odds to win.
Sebastian Vettel has established himself as the man to beat in the early stages of the F1 season. He is the current points leaders and has two wins and two runner-up finishes in four races for 2017. He has finished third in this race the last two years, but I think he should improve on that this year.
Lewis Hamilton is still the favorite in most people’s minds. The three-time series champion is currently second in the point standings. He has one win this year, with two seconds and a fourth. Hamilton won this race in 2014 and should be right in the mix on Sunday. If at his best, Hamilton is usually the driver to beat.
Valtteri Bottas is the only driver to win a race this year other than Vettel and Hamilton. He is third in the point standings with his one win and a pair of third-place finishes. With his current backing from Mercedes, he has developed into one of the top drivers in F1. With his previous team, he finished in the top-5 of this race the last three years. He should certainly push for the win today with his Mercedes backing.
