One of the best rivalries in the 90s renews this Sunday when the Dallas Cowboys host the San Francisco 49ers at Texas Stadium.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Cowboys a -10 point spread favorite. The over/under for this game has been set at 46.5 total points.
While the Cowboys got a boost last week with the return of quarterback Tony Romo, they struggled offensively against the Redskins until getting touchdown in the fourth quarter to sneak out a 14-10 win, and cover the 3-point spread. Their defense is what earned them the victory, but the Cowboy D also has played inconsistent all season.
The Cowboys are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games at home and 4-11 against the spread in its last 15 games. Conversely, the 49ers are 6-2-1 against the spread in its last nine games when playing Dallas, while the total has gone over in five of San Fran’s last five games when playing on the road against the Cowboys.
The best bet in this game is the over. Again, the over has hit the last five times these two teams have met and also has gone over in four of the 49ers’ last five games against the Cowboys total. The total for this matchup might look high at 46.5 – especially considering Dallas only gave up 10 points last week against Washington – but the total has gone over in San Fran’s last two games and their offense has looked more effective as Mike Martz has attempted to run the ball more.
We like San Fran to keep things close with Dallas, and definitely favor the over.
