What post positions have had the most recent success in the Preakness?
It’s been a mixed bag for bettors. 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah won last year after drawing the rail and 2014 Preakness winner California Chrome was in the No. 3 post. Oxbow won in 2013 from the No. 6 position while 2012 winner I’ll Have Another drew the No. 9 post position. In fact, a different post position has won every year since 1992. The No. 4 post position was the last post to repeat as Preakness champion, winning in 1991 (Hansel) and 1992 (Pine Bluff). Sorry, Cherry Wine.
