Nathans Hot Dog Eating
Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Championship will feature Koby Kobayashi and Joey Chesnut. This famous international hot dog eating contest sponsored by Nathans will take place on July 4th at Coney Island. Betting odds on who will win the 2007 Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest are brought to you by Sportsbook.com.
Despite having stranglehold on the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Championship, Takeru (Koby) Kobayashi is an underdog to win his seventh straight title this July 4th. How can a man with such dominance be the underdog you ask? It is simple: by inhaling 59 ½ dogs this past weekend at a qualifying event, last year’s second place finisher Joey Chestnut set a new world record by shattering Koby’s previous record of 53 3/4 . Just to be clear, those numbers not only include the dogs themselves but also the rolls; all consumed within the 12 minute time frame. Chestnut is currently rated second in the world by the International Federation of Competitive Eating (yes such a thing exists) behind Koby. If Chestnut can unseat the champion from his throne, he will be the first American to win competitive eating’s most sought after title since Steve Keiner devoured 20 ½ wieners way back in 1999.
“It absolutely boggles my mind that Kobayashi isn’t the favorite.” Sportbook.com spokesman Dave Staley stated. “I understand what Chestnut did this past weekend is remarkable but Koby is more dominating to his sport than Ali, Woods and Jordan ever were to theirs. What better way for America to celebrate its birthday than Chestnut bringing home the title next month. He will be a hero over night!”
