Offseason Additions:
The Rockets made a risky move in acquiring Ron Artest from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Bobby Jackson and Donte Greene. The team also re-signed forward Carl Landry, which was a move that didn’t get a lot of attention but it is regarding as a sound one by Houston front office personal.
2008-2009 Season Outlook:
This team has a lot of players that can contribute. Obviously Artest, Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady will get most of the attention, but Shane Dattier, Luis Scola and Rafer Alston will all play key roles as well.
Assuming this team can stay healthy, there’s no reason to think it can’t give the Los Angeles Lakers a run for their money in the Western Conference. The Rockets will have to deal with a up and coming New Orleans Hornets squad, as well as an experienced San Antonio Spurs team, but the combination of Ming and T-Mac should get them back into the postseason. And if Artest can stay healthy, maybe Houston can make a deep run.
