Will Power Indy 500 Outlook
Will Power has pretty much done it all when it comes to IndyCar racing, but he has never won the Indianapolis 500. Can the veteran driver break through this Sunday?
The Indianapolis 500 is a 500-mile race that will be held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race takes place today on Sunday at 11AM ET and will air live on ABC. According to oddsmakers, Will Power is one of four drivers with 10/1 odds to win Sunday’s race. Alexander Rossi is the favorite with 8/1 odds while Helio Castroneves has 9/1 odds.
Power on the front row
Power has yet to win an Indy 500, but he has usually had a pretty good starting spot. That’s no different this year, as he starts from the third position. Power has been in the front row three times in his Indy 500 career and has managed to finished in the top 10 each time, including a runner-up finish in 2015.
Coming off a victory
Power was off to a slow start to his 2018 season, finishing outside the top 5 in three of his first four races. However, he got himself back on track by winning on Indy’s road course for the third time in four years. He currently sits seventh in the IndyCar point standings.
Indy 500 Outlook
The front row has produced 42 Indy 500 winners and the third position itself has produced 11. I think Power can possibly be the next. He obviously knows how to navigate this track with speed based on his strong starting positions. He just needs some breaks to fall his way. This isn’t his best track, but I think knowing his chances are running out, he will run a smart race and give himself a chance to get the win late.
