Indianapolis 500 Predictions
The 2019 Indianapolis 500 will wave the green flag later this morning. Which driver will come away with the big victory?
The Indianapolis 500 is a race held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It is a 500-mile race that will do 200 laps around the track. The race takes place today at 12:30PM ET and will air live on NBC. According to the latest oddsmakers, Simon Pagenaud is the favorite, as he is listed with 13/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Will Power (7/1), Alexander Rossi (8/1), Ed Carpenter (8/1) and Josef Newgarden (8/1).
53103 Alexander Rossi 8/1
Rossi has been pretty strong at Indy and I think he will continue that trend this afternoon. Over three appearances in this race, he has finished seventh or better in all three, including a win in 2016. Today, Rossi will start ninth and be near the front from the beginning, which should help him contend for the win. He has finished in the top 5 in three of the five IndyCar races this year and I expect him to shine today as well.
53108 Scott Dixon 12/1
Dixon is a former winner of this race, taking the title in 2008. This year, he has finished second or third in four of the five races and I think he has great value for today’s race. Dixon is starting back in 18th, but he started 15th in 2012 and managed to finish runner-up. Dixon is a veteran and champion of IndyCar racing and I would expect him to be among the top contenders.
53116 Tony Kanaan 25/1
If you are looking for a real long shot today with some value, I would say Kanaan could be your guy. He comes in at 25/1 to win, as he will start in 16th position. Kanaan is a former winner of this race, claiming the crown in 2013. He also has finished in the top 5 in six other Indy 500’s. He has been pretty hit-and-miss in the race, finishing outside the top 20 six times as well. If Kanaan can get out of trouble, I expect he will be a top contender.
