Iowa Corn 300 Predictions
The IndyCar Series gets the motor sports spotlight on Sunday with the running of the Iowa Corn 300. Here’s the three drivers we like to contend for the win.
The Iowa Corn 300 is a race held at Iowa Speedway. It is a 262-mile race that will do 300 laps around the track. The race takes place today at 2PM ET and will air on NBCSN. According to oddsmakers, Scott Dixon is the favorite, as he has 4/1 odds to win. Other short odds to prevail are Ryan Hunter-Reay (5/1), Josef Newgarden (6/1) and Alexander Rossi (6/1).
51317 Ryan Hunter-Reay 5/1
Hunter-Reay has loved this race. He is a three-time winner of this event, last claiming the victory in 2015. He also was third a year ago. Hunter-Reay is having a great 2018 season and making a push for the series championship. He has one victory with three runner-up finishes in 2018. He also has finished in the top 5 in all but two races. I think Hunter-Reay will be the man to beat today.
51300 Josef Newgarden 6/1
Newgarden is also a former winner of this race, taking the checkered flag in 2016. This year has been a very hot-and-cold year for Newgarden. He has three wins in 2018, but also has seven finishes outside the top 5. If Newgarden really wants to make a run at the series title, he has to continue to pick up wins to make up for his bad runs. Look for him to push the pack at a track he is comfortable at.
51308 Graham Rahal 12/1
Rahal is a dark horse option to consider. Sitting sixth in the point standings, Rahal needs a breakout run today to put himself in the mix for the points lead. He finished fifth in this race a year ago, so he does have some history of running well at Iowa. He comes into today’s race having finished sixth or better in his last three and has only finished outside the top 10 once this year. Rahal manages to put himself in the mix in most races, so he is someone that could take advantage of a mistake by the leaders, or even just a little luck.
