According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Scott Dixon is a 6/1 favorite to win the race. Other short odds to win are Juab Pablo Montoya, Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan, who each have 8/1 odds to win.
Dixon was the 2008 winner of this race. He takes the pole for this year’s race. He finished eighth last year and fourth in 2015. He has a total of six top-5 finishes in the Indy 500.
Montoya is a two-time winner of the Indy 500. His last victory was in 2015. He will start 18th in Sunday’s race. He has competed in this race just four times. He finished fifth in 2014 and 33rd last year.
Castroneves is a three-time Indy 500 champion. His last win came in 2009. He is starting 19th this year. He has only cracked the top-5 once in this race since the 2009 win. That was when he finished second in 2014.
Kanaan was the Indy 500 winner back in 2013. He qualified seventh for this year’s race. He has finished in the top 5 of this even in four of the last six years.
