Snow Drops Pats -6
The game isn’t until Sunday but the point spread for the game between the New York Jets against the New England Patriots is dropping faster than the thermometer in Foxboro. Concerns of freezing temperatures and possibly snowy conditions bettors saw the New England Patriots drop from -27 point spread betting line favorites to -21.
The over/under set for this game has taken the most damage according to oddsmakers at online sports book Bodog. On Tuesday, the total number of points in this game was set at 51. Currently, the over/under odds sit -9 points less at -42. Some oddsmakers speculate that number could drop even further by game time if the weather worsens.
"If that happens you will see a rush of bettors looking to bet on the under" according to Michael Seaton, General Manager of www.TheSpread.com. "They will think back to the Monday Night game between Pittsburgh and Miami where only a Field Goal was scored all game and go big at a shot to have that happen again."
Weather reports out of Foxboro forecast snow and freezing rain with wind gusts of up to 40mph.
As of Saturday afternoon current NFL public betting information was showing that 62% of almost 35,000 point spread bets that had been placed were in support of the Jets +21.
