According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Kalisto is favored to retain his championship, as he has been given odds of -150 to win, while Ryback has been given a money line of +110 to win. This match is part of the Wrestlemania 32 kickoff, which begins at 5PM ET from AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The show airs live on the WWE Network.
Ryback is certainly the more imposing wrestler on paper as he stands 6-3 and weighs 291 pounds. Kalisto stands 5-6 and weighs just 180 pounds. Kalisto has been given a push over the last few months as he has hit it off with the crowd and kids with his high-flying style. They use the “underdog” storyline with him, as he looks like someone that shouldn’t be able to beat these bigger fighters. He also has a big Latin connection that the organization likes to utilize with its Latin fanbase.
Ryback was a good guy for a while, but recently turned heel (bad guy) and seems in line for a strong push over the summer. I don’t see the WWE having Ryback get pinned or submitted by Kalisto in this match, as they want to establish him as one of the stronger wrestlers, but they could have him get disqualified and unleash an assault on Kalisto to really get him over as a bad guy. It will be interesting to see how this match plays out and what it means for the direction of both wrestlers.
