2016 Kentucky Derby Predictions
Will the favorite Nyquist win the 2016 Kentucky Derby today? Here are our predictions for the first leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown.
WIN: Nyquist
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Nyquist is the favorite at 3/1. In seven career starts he’s a perfect 7-0 and was named champion 2-year-old male after a season capped by a win in the Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. He shares the same connections as 2012 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner I’ll Have Another and despite being the easy choice to win, he’s the most talented contender in this year’s field.
PLACE: Exaggerator
Exaggerator has the next-best odds behind Nyquist at 8/1. The best reason to take Exaggerator to finish in the money today? He’s extremely consistent. He’s run a 103, 104, 105 and 103 Equibase Speed Figures in his last four races, respectively, and has faced elite competition since early in his 2-year-old season. A natural stalker, he’ll give Nyquist a run before falling short.

SHOW: Mor Spirit
At 12/1, Mor Spirit is one of the better value plays on the board this evening. In seven career starts he has three wins and four second-place finishes. After three straight elite finishes in graded stakes, he placed second in the Santa Anita Derby when racing on a sloppy track. He’s never finished worse than second in seven starts and is a Grade 1 winner.
