Line in Independence Bowl climbs
SHREVEPORT, LA (The Spread) – Miami will play South Carolina in today’s Independence Bowl, where the line has jumped the fence most sports books.

Depending on when a specific sports book opened its line, the Gamecocks opened as 1.5-point favorites for today’s 3:30PM ET contest against the Hurricanes but since that point, Vegas and online books have adjusted the number significantly. At the Vegas sports book MGM Mirage, for example, the line has gone from 1.5 in favor of South Carolina to 3.5 in favor of Miami. At other books, Miami opened as 1.5-point favorites and then was bet up to 3 or 3.5.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Hurricanes are now 3-point favorites over the Gamecocks while the total has gone from 59.5 up to 62.
The Hurricanes have struggled to cover the spread in their recent bowl appearances, going 1-5 against the spread in their last six bowl games. They’re also 0-4 against the number in their last four neutral site games.
