It was a delight to witness Erling Braut Haaland draw so much attention to his post-game interview last weekend. After scoring all of Manchester City’s goals during their season-opening 2-0 success over West Ham, the new kid on the block couldn’t remove the cuss words from his English dialect despite being told by the media.
It was a comical introduction for the newly signed City player. Still, the Hammers weren’t laughing as the highlight of Manchester City’s weekend was mainly due to West Ham’s lack of ability to prevent Haaland from having his way on the pitch.
In their quest to successfully defend their EPL title of 2021/22, the Citizens couldn’t have asked for a more excellent beginning to the new season, as manager Pep Guardiola defended his Premier League Matchday 1 record that is rarely blemished.
With that said, Leicester City shut out Guardiola’s men (5-2) in the Citizen’s first game of the 2020/21 campaign, but this result is their only defeat from 22 fixtures at the start of a season. When factoring in their recent home outings, Bournemouth is unlikely to compromise City’s ability to succeed in their backyard.

Jefferson Lerma was the talk of Bournemouth football last weekend, scoring the fastest goal a newly-promoted side has ever achieved on an opening weekend, as Kieffer Moore joined him on the score sheet in the second half to hand the Cherries a perfect start in the English topflight.
Holding onto this momentum, nine times out of ten, wouldn’t be an unlikely event. However, Bournemouth is now faced with the defending EPL champions, and their success over a struggling Aston Villa squad doesn’t hold much weight in this regard.
Manager Scott Parker did manage a four-game unbeaten streak on the road at the end of the 2021/22 Championship season, but again, this is Manchester City, not Blackburn Rovers. It’s a tall order for the Cherries to match the skill and pace of Guardiola’s men, especially considering they’ve never won a single game versus the Citizens in 10 past meetings, losing every one of the fixtures.
