Men’s Aussie Open Odds
The first grand slam tennis tournament of 2017 gets underway early Monday as the Australian Open begins. Here’s a look at the odds for the men’s tournament.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Novak Djokovic is the favorite to win, as he has +137 odds. Other short odds to win are Andy Murray (+150), Stan Wawrinka (+1100) and Rafael Nadal (+1200). The Australian Open takes place Jan. 16-29 from Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Djokovic is a six-time Aussie open winner and the two-time defending champion. He has actually won five of the last six Australian Opens. Djokovic holds 12 grand-slam event titles in his career and has reached the finals in seven of the last eight events.
Murray has never won the Australian Open, but he has reached the final five of the last seven years, including the last two years against Djokovic. Murray holds three grand-slam title wins in his career, but just one in the last three years.
Wawrinka won the Australian Open in 2014, which was his first grand-slam title. He has won a total of three in his career, one in each year. He hasn’t gotten past the semifinals of the last two Aussie Opens.
Nadal won this title back in 2009 and has reached the finals two other times. He holds a total of 14 grand-slam event titles, but hasn’t won a title since 2014. He hasn’t reached the semifinals in the las eight grand-slam events he has appeared in.
